AIEEE format needs improvement

under Academics at 1:01 am on May 5th, 2008

CBSE (according to wiki) is the group who manages the AIEEE examination. For those of who you don’t know, AIEEE is a national level examination for students who wish to enroll themselves in the prestigious NITs. The AIEEE is held around the last few days of April or usually the first odd week of May with the AIEEE results coming out online around the first week of July every year and the paper based result should follow in a month or so.

Ever since I gave my AIEEE examination back in 2005, I’ve had thousands of hits and a few hundred comments and a similar number of emails every year asking me about why their i-card’s aren’t here or why they haven’t received their results yet. Around six to nine hundred thousand students give the exam every year and I know how hard it is to manage such a large number of people for the exam but the whole thing about students having to go to different states and as far away as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to give their AIEEE exams is just crazy and unacceptable.

I wish they’d have a better way to do the necessary tasks. I sure hope they do send the paper based results in time to students. Hopefully the AIEEE results will get to everyone before their admission process starts :)

I think I should take an active roll in providing AIEEE students with information like what they should do when students don’t have their AIEEE i-cards or their paper based AIEEE results. Its obvious that the AIEEE results are first announced officially on the AIEEE website which is http://aieee.nic.in/ :)

Be it doubts about AIEEE i-cards, AIEEE examination, AIEEE results, AIEEE admission patterns, AIEEE admission cut off lists AIEEE councelling or AIEEE admissions, I’ll try to help. If anyone has doubts, please be sure to leave a comment and your email (in the box provided for the email). I’ll try my best to send you a reply asap.

I’m already pretty high if you search for things like AIEEE results on google. A bit more and I could show up well on further AIEEE results so that should help :)

Things change..

under Academics, General Stuff, Sitework at 9:28 am on February 13th, 2008

This is true in so many ways, I don’t know where to start. Work this sem at univ seems endless but things keep changing. A lot of things have changed of late around me but more importantly the day which decides a major part of my future is coming close. The date and time have been decided. At 1300 IST on the 8th of July 2008 I shall give GRE paper. Lets hope for the best. Should be a good birthday present for lopardo, eh? :P

So this sem is going to be crazy. We need to hand in 3 projects at univ, I need to finish up with j@x and Scribble Scrabble, I need to study for GRE and for this sem itself (since I hope to score good marks this sem) and there is this other project I’ve been contacted about at univ by some seniors. Its awesomely amazing and needs students from at least 4 engineering branches. I always wanted to take part in something like this and if time permits, I’d love to work on it. I’m meeting the guys today so lets see where it goes from there.

On a side note, I got a mail from Google yesterday that my site had badware on it. On investigating I found that I was on a older version of WordPress and that it had a SQL injection vulnerability. WordPress has been updated and the problem has been fixed. I’m on the WordPress notify list now so this shouldn’t happen again.

Oh, and I’ve changed the theme to BloxPress 2. The old theme had a nice christmassy feel to it but it had a few issues. I liked Indigo more but quite sadly it doesn’t work properly here for some weird reason :( Enjoy the AJAX. ;)

NRMT: MSSP Scholarship

under Academics at 8:09 pm on September 10th, 2007

Today was the first day of this sem (on the JA calender) and boy was it a shocking one. First thing that happens as soon as I enter college is that I get congratulated by my friends. Why, I ask? Couldn’t be because of the PRAXIS. I told my friends on Saturday/Sunday and Monday morning is too early for people to find out. Especially people who don’t talk when not in college.
I asked them why I was being congratulated and to my surprise, I had received the Nagesh Rane Memorial Trust (NRMT) Scholarship under the Meritorious Students Support Program (MSSP).

They are paying IMS-India for their GRE Program. I have no idea what I should say, of course, this is a first. All I can think of is, thanks Prof. Nagesh Raghunath Rane

Cache me if you can

under Academics, General Stuff at 8:44 pm on June 3rd, 2007

As like every year, AIEEE season brings in tonnes of visitors to my site each asking God knows what not.
I don’t know how they expect me to get them their hall tickets or their results but when they just need a general about something, I try to help them out. This year was no different. At a certain time, in fact the load was so high that the guys at dreamhost had to send an email notifying me that the server was under load due to the high activity.
Solution? Install wp-cache to cache the pages thus decreasing the server load a few thousand times over :) This is like a yearly digg effect without the involvement of digg :P
I am pretty sure people don’t even read what I have to say because if they did, they would notice that I am just another engineering student and that I am in no way linked with the guys who run the AIEEE website.

Oh well.. As for the latest developments, my sem 4 exams are going on which as every sem shall end on the 19th of June lasting just a tad bit under a month like every time :) Fun days, eh? ;) Vacation seems to be pretty well lined up just like every time :) Planning to watch a few of the movies that have released recently that was on my to watch list. Hopefully this comes true. My console will be up so its gaming time \o/ And then we have our AXIS work ;) Its going to be a great month or two. A few key decisions need to be made about future plans too. Should be fun.
PS: Happy now Knuckles? I updated it :P

Race against time

under Academics, Wassup at 7:38 pm on October 15th, 2006

Its precisely 7.30 pm as i begin writing this. I have the entire night tonight to complete my journals cause they have to be corrected today for submissions on tuesday. Else i could lose some of my term work marks if the teachers get pissed off. I havent performed exceptionally well in 2 papers while in all others im sure i did quite well.

Talking to my friend today, he told me if i wanted to score good marks, i should aim higher than what i need. I’m not one who works throughout the year for good marks but for once, i want to try what it feels like to study only in the preparatory leave (cause i didnt do anything in the regular days unlike the last two sems). Lets see how much i can get out of this. If I succeed in reaching my target, you will hear about it in my febuary’s “Sem 3 Results” post. Else on to sem 4 with bigger plans!

Since the components i need for my pc arent here and my bro hasnt told me the prices of the stuff available there, i really dont know the date by which my pc will come. The Playstation should come so thats good news. Yes i did say “should”. (You know my bad luck in getting things that i want. Look at the pc :P)

In for a rough 2 months. All buckled up for the ride cause damn, its gonna be a bumpy one ;)

PR (Personal Reminder): Lunch today rocked! Remember that one year later :P

Note to readers, if you know me personally and can figure out what PR’s mean, good for you. Else just leave it alone cause it aint for you anyway. More and more of my posts need PR’s now a days =p

Sem 2 Results

under Academics at 4:23 pm on August 7th, 2006

I know i have been gone for about a month and frankly most people wouldnt even have noticed but the results from my sem 2 are here.

Good news: I got 71% and i have topped my class

Bad news: I still only stand second in my college and as for my local friends, their results arent out yet and im sure that i might lose my rank :P

There are only 2 better solutions feasible than this result. I could have either topped my college or got 77% meaning an aggregate distinction. My expectation (distinction) was dead on. I am the first to admit when i am wrong as this time i havent studied at all as usual (hence the Academic Lamerism post). Feels good to get the marks estimated. I had no expectations since i saw the slaughter of the lambs in Sem 1.

Most other colleges didnt get their results since its been raining heavily for the past few days. Its actually getting worrying right about now but before the lectures were cancelled, the college staff promised that they would release the results today, a promise that im gladful they kept ;) The results for other colleges should come in soon. Lets see how it goes :)
I personally think of these marks as just a ticket to get into interviews since these papers are checking your ability to present your paper than the knowledge you have. Still i pride myself in the fact that i got 76 in my CP2 (C++) paper which is better than the 53 in my CP1 (C) paper. Though the content of last sems paper was slightly better, this time around i presented the paper as tho it was a presentation with highlights and comments sometimes outweighing the answer itself. The words of my Sem 1 teacher, “Dont give em a chance to miss any point you have mentioned and you will score well” echoed in my ears. Ok atleast some of their million odd advices stuck to me and brought dividence ;)

OMFG

under Academics, General Stuff, Programming at 12:42 pm on June 9th, 2006

Shit i cant believe i lost 650 lines of codework on ThunderBank (the project im doing for the programing group ‘The Axis‘ ) When i got up i thought i pressed F2. I guess i was wrong
The worst part was the saved part only has half of the 1st class. I lost 1 and a half classes :( So i guess ill have to redo the entire 2 hours work i put in yesterday :-/ Hopefully it will be quicker this time since i know exactly how to do it.
Yeah my exams are over and they were good i guess … i still doubt i’ll reach my target due to my ‘Academic Lamerism’ or maybe is should set lower targets due to i next time around :P

Anyway im thinking of starting with 2 subjects (unlike the last to sems where i did only one) in my vacations. So im going for EN/W (Electrical Networks) and EDC (Electronic Devices and Circuits). I know a good book for the latter but im still searching for a good one for the earlier … Ill do my math and DLDA (Digital Logic, Design and Application …. well its something like that ) when my college starts. Well i still have to do php, the entire thunderbank project and read 2 novels along with seeing 2 more movies and watch the soccer world cup. Seems like another busy month ahead of me … Dont you think i’d be used to this by now?

Academic Lamerism

under Academics at 11:57 am on May 13th, 2006

This is how i’d define ‘Academic Lamerism’.

Having a huge examination in 25 days a student wastes 21 of these days and starts studies 4 days prior to the examination and yet expects good results.

The sad part is after doing this such people get away with it every single time. I dont know how. They manage to clear their exams and score “decent” marks. Amazing isnt it. Well it is to me. I seriously dont like it. Yet there is nothing i can do to prevent it.

When such people try to come out the the public no one believes them due to their “decent” results

Yes i am an Academic Lamer. I’ve been one my entire life. But over the past year it has escalated to new heights. I keep wondering if i can get these results by studying the day before the exam (literally) then what i could achieve if i put more effort into studies like normal students. I guess i just dont consider myself normal anymore … See ya on the 5th of June after my exams ;)

What have i been upto?

under Academics, General Stuff at 2:58 pm on April 25th, 2006

Well with my prilims gone and the submissions done with i can now start studying seriously. Today i plan to start my math. Ive been doing quite a lot (not including studies since everyone knows i never do that :D)

I just thought you should know im ok and fine …. ive made a few things as the time passed and i am about to make a new release soon :)

Results - Sem 1

under Academics at 10:08 pm on February 23rd, 2006

I’ll give you 1 guess as to what my result is :P Yes i cleared all my papers :) Thats what the online results say. Atm im really happy and i can harly remember the overburdening work that is overdue next week. Most of my friends here have passed.

At this moment i would like to congratulate my friends Soumil, Mohan, Rama, Anand and Ankur who have also cleared their papers. Its all down to the percentage that i have got. The online results only show if you have cleared all your papers. No less, no more. So i have to wait till tomorow to get my percentage. I hope i get a good percentage so i can apply to a good univ. Hopefully i would be excepted by a univ closer to my house thus giving me about an hour or two more everyday :)

At this moment i would like to thank all my teachers who have helped me through this tough time :) People believed in me when i doubted myself. You know who you are :P There is a bit more i would like to add but that will come once my percentage is known :P

A special three cheers to my good friend Renuk who has topped his univ with 86-87 % :| You no longer have the right to stop me from saying stuff like “You are my master ” and “You are going to top you univ, dont deny it !!” :refuck: And dont think i dont expect a party from you on saturday in class :refuck:

Well my results are here and i got 368/600 which is about 61% The result isnt all that great but oh well. Im depressed over the fact that i may or may not be able to chage my univ next year. It all depends on luck i guess :) Here’s to hoping :rolleyes:Thanks harry but you know im going to sulk over my result for the next week and people at my univ will be swaring at me cause a lot of them didnt get marks like mine and they would do anything to do so. Its just a kind of an academic version of the food chain :P
